  1. Your max will increase if you do the right things in the gym to build up to it. Working sets with 3-5 reps, focusing on great form, will help your strength and size improve which will lead to a better max lift to impress coaches. 
  1. Another great thing you can do, which is one of my personal favorites is doing sets where you control the weight down and focus on exploding up. Otherwise known as tempo reps. Have someone count down (or you can count down) from 5 as you go down with the weight to your chest. This gives you more balance and control within your frame which will make it easier to handle heavy weight, and when you get to the bottom focus on exploding the press up. This will help with your explosion in this movement.
